Steamboat Cattle Co. at D2 Ranch is owned by Yancey and Leigh Rushton and their three kids Drew, Conner, and Anna. The ranch was named after their son Drew (10), who died December 2nd of 2018 from Aplastic Anemia ( similar to Leukemia). Yancey and Leigh moved to Steamboat from Auburn, Alabama in 2012 where they had a small farm raising Pineywoods Cattle. Both Yancey and Leigh are graduates of Auburn University ( the Ag school in Alabama) and Yancey earned a Ph.D. in Water Chemistry from the Department of Fisheries and served as an Ag Ambassador for Auburn University.
Steamboat Cattle Co. raises registered Highland Cattle, a Highland/Dexter cross for meat, chickens, turkeys, and pigs. We cut and sell hay as well.
We are located south of Steamboat on a 1700 acre ranch in Yampa, CO. Our ranch borders the Flat Tops National Forest. Our cattle graze on 12 pastures ranging from 55-275 acres each.
All of our animals are pasture-raised, hormone-free, and treated humanely.
